Given I was originally told it wouldn't even last six months because of crappy build quality, I'm quite happy I got 10 years out of it. Just today, I unplugged it from my computer to clean, plugged it back in and it won't power on. ![]() Reviewed in the United States on August 28, 2020Īccording to Amazon, I bought this on June 29, 2010. If this seller was honest, and upfront that this is not a genuine Microsoft Product, I would give them more slack, but I won't.įirst, the driver disk, that comes with it has an out of date version that you don't want to install. As you can see in the picture, of the product I received today (Aug 27, 2020) it is an aftermarket NON Microsoft receiver. I was a sucker to think I could purchase a real XBOX 360 Wireless adaptor. These things were never super-high-quality products, and I doubt they'll be getting better. Problem is, the price on these dongles has more than doubled (I bought mine for 15$ back in 2013) & I suspect Microsoft is letting their peripherals licenses languish as they've moved on- refurbished stuff sold as new, knockoffs substituted for the actual thing without updating the listing, Microsoft doesn't care since this is all far beyond the end of their product's lifecycle. Mine's getting more finicky despite being left alone in its spot so long it's collecting dust, and I'm looking to get replacements for this stuff before it's all gone. Turns out these things were NOT made to last (probably deliberately), shorting out thanks to an under-size fuse that'll die if jostled too much or if placed too near a source of heat (like a laptop). All this time later, and 360 peripherals are getting scarce. It was like that from the get-go, but worked well enough that I didn't need to replace it. It's seen intermittent use, with only the occasional nuisance of it not working without me unplugging/re-plugging it sometimes.
